Joannes Catechist
Joannes Catechist’s journey reflects a deep-rooted commitment to technological advancement and global connectivity. An alumnus of UVCE, Bangalore, with a graduation in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, he began his professional career at India’s State Media Organization, where he honed his expertise in broadcasting infrastructure and media systems.
Driven by a passion for growth, Joannes ventured to the Middle East, working with industry giants such as Sony Professional and GatesAir Inc. These collaborations inspired him to bring leading-edge broadcasting and ICT solutions to emerging markets, particularly in Africa.
This vision culminated in the founding of JMT International FZE, headquartered in Dubai, with the mission to introduce world-class technology to Africa and beyond. Under his leadership, the company has expanded into Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, and other regions—delivering impactful innovation and fostering technological self-reliance.

The Rise of JMT International
1998 - The Spark of a Vision
• In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the story begins with the founding of Techsys – Technology Systems and Solutions, driven by the founder’s mission to bring world-class tech to Africa.
• Techsys became a trusted turnkey provider, partnering with global giants like Sony Middle East and Africa and GatesAir formally known as Harris Broadcasting to install TV/Radio studios, transmitters, and surveillance systems.
2000 - First Major Project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
• Landmark project: Addis Ababa Media Production Facility Setup • Amhara Media Corporation – Studio Setup
• OB Van – Implementation and Commissioning
2005 - Regional Expansion Begins
• Expanded into East Africa with the launch of Techsys Rwanda, creating a strong market presence in the region.
2009 - Uganda Expansion
• Further growth into East Africa with the establishment of IComsys Africa, a dedicated subsidiary in Uganda aimed at delivering tailored broadcasting and ICT solutions.
2024 - Local Empowerment and Smart Innovation
• Mindware Computer Network PLC was founded in Ethiopia to strengthen in-country operations.
• JMT International FZE began investing in futuristic verticals including: o Smart city architecture o Border security systems o Next-gen transmitter development o Data Center setups o Emerging tech like Cryptocurrency
